On days when I know I won’t have a ton of time to spend making dinner, this recipe is one of my “go-to’s”. It turns out perfect every single time, and it makes a lot of meat. Best of all, my entire family likes it! (that NEVER happens around here!) I love that the leftovers are so versatile. I can put the BBQ pulled pork in sandwiches, I can stuff sweet potatoes with it, I can use it as the filling for quesadillas, or I can make a BBQ pork pizza. So having a fridge full of these leftovers is fantastic for a busy mom who doesn’t want to fuss with dinner. If you are looking for a simple, delicious, fool-proof recipe for those busy week nights, the perfect crock pot BBQ pulled pork is for you!

Ingredients
Servings: cups shredded pork
Instructions
  1. Combine salt, pepper, and chili powder to make a rub. rub all over the pork tenderloin.
  2. Place pork in your crock pot. Add 1/2 cup water.
  3. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  4. 30 minutes before serving, remove pork from crock pot. Pour out the liquid. Put the pork back in the crock pot and shred the meat with two forks (you can also do this in a kitchen aid mixer).
  5. Add 1 cup of BBQ sauce and cook for 30 minutes more stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  6. Serve on sandwiches, on salads, on pizza, or just enjoy it plain with a side of cornbread or a salad!
Recipe Notes

This recipe calls for 1 cup of BBQ sauce. I have never used store bought sauce when I make this. Here is the link to my sweet and smoky BBQ sauce in case you want to make sauce from scratch!

We also love this on salads topped with homemade buttermilk ranch!
